Celebrate Irish Heritage at the Syracuse St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Spring in Central New York wouldn’t be complete without one of the region’s most spirited traditions — the Syracuse St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Each year, this long-standing celebration fills downtown Syracuse with color, music, and community pride as locals and visitors line the streets to honor Irish heritage and culture.
The 44th annual parade is set for Saturday, March 14, 2026, and kicks off at noon along South Salina Street in downtown Syracuse. It brings together marching bands, festive floats, Irish dancers, and community groups, creating a lively procession through the heart of the city that appeals to all ages.
This year’s theme, “As Giving as the Irish,” reflects the parade’s emphasis on community spirit, generosity, and shared celebration. In addition to honoring Irish culture, the parade spotlights local honorees and highlights the contributions of individuals and groups that enrich Central New York.

The New Curb Appeal? Why Statement Staircases Are Turning Heads in 2026

For years, curb appeal meant one thing: how your home looks from the street. Landscaping, paint color, the front door — those were the features that created a first impression.
But in 2026, that first impression doesn’t end at the front door.
Design experts and real estate professionals are noticing a shift: the staircase is becoming the new focal point that shapes a buyer’s emotional reaction the moment they step inside. Instead of just serving a practical purpose, staircases are evolving into architectural statements that elevate how a home feels.
The First Interior Moment Matters

Today’s buyers form opinions quickly — and often emotionally. Once inside a home, their eyes naturally travel upward and forward. If a staircase is visible from the entry, it becomes one of the first major architectural elements they experience.
A thoughtfully designed staircase can:
•    Signal quality craftsmanship
•    Create ...

Celebrate Women’s History Month at Hidden Perspectives: Women’s Lives on the Erie Canal

March is Women’s History Month — a time to reflect on and honor the many contributions women have made throughout history and continue to make in our communities. One meaningful way to do that this month is by attending Hidden Perspectives: Women’s Lives on the Erie Canal, an exhibit highlighting women’s stories connected to one of New York’s most historic transportation routes.
This special exhibition explores the lives of women whose worlds were shaped by the Erie Canal — whether they worked on it, traveled along it, or found inspiration and opportunity because of it. The display brings to light perspectives that are often overlooked, giving visitors a richer understanding of how the canal impacted everyday life and local history.

Kick Off Spring Cleanup with a Garage Refresh After a Long Winter

After months of snow, shoveling, ice scrapes, and seasonal gear piled high, it’s almost time for one of the most satisfying seasons of home maintenance — spring cleanup. In Central New York, where winters can feel long and hard on both homes and household organization, the garage often takes the brunt of it. As the snow melts and temperatures begin to climb, now is the perfect moment to plan your garage cleanse and get your space organized for spring and summer.
A clean, functional garage does more than make room for your car — it expands your usable living space, improves safety, and helps you find what you need when you need it. Here’s how to approach a garage refresh in a thoughtful, efficient way this spring.

Clear the Space and Start Fresh

The first step is a full clear-out. Pull everything out of the garage — tools, storage bins, sports equipment, winter gear, yard supplies, and anything else that has accumulated over the winter.

Planning to Sell in 2026? Why to Start Preparing Now

If selling your home in 2026 is part of your plan, the preparation shouldn’t start the week you list — it should start now.
While some markets across the country are seeing more balance, Central New York remains fast-paced and competitive. Well-priced homes continue to move quickly, and buyer demand is still strong. That said, even in a red-hot market, preparation is what separates a quick sale from a top-dollar sale.

Yes, It’s a Hot Market — But Buyers Still Notice Condition
Homes in our area are moving, but today’s buyers are informed and decisive. They’re touring multiple properties, comparing conditions, and factoring in the cost of repairs or updates.
If two similar homes hit the market at the same time, the one that feels move-in ready, well-maintained, and thoughtfully prepared will almost always attract stronger offers.
Preparing early allows you to:
Address deferred maintenance before it becomes a negotiating point
